A day at the zoo

Yesterday we headed up to the Oregon Zoo for the day; taking advantage of $2 Tuesday. We thought this would be Josiah's first time at the zoo, then we remembered that Jill had taken him a few years ago. It was Micah's and Cami's first time, though. The kids LOVED it. Josiah acted like such a little explorer; demanding to hold the map and direct us to the next animals to look at. Micah just kind of went with the flow and made a habit of standing directly in front of kids that were already at the view points looking at the animals. Cami was the mellowest of all as she slept a considerable amount of time in the stroller. Some of the highlights were seeing the elephants take a bath, riding the Washington Park train, and watching a bird show. It didn't hurt that the weather was beautiful, too.

The bros going down a log tunnel!

Josiah showing us where we will be going next.

Here the three kiddos are posing in front of a John Deere tractor at the farm area.

Micah watching the orangutan play with a bed sheet. When we got there he had a t-shirt on but took it off and put a bed sheet on like a cape.

The elephants were going through their morning exercises. See the video below of them taking a bath.

Micah was fascinated by how big the hippos were.

Micah and Josiah before the train took off for a short ride to Washington Park.

Daddy and Cami playing as the train went along.

Cami taking one of her many naps during the day. Notice the cute bubbles she is blowing!

Josiah and Micah enjoyed a few moments of running around before we watched the bird show. Hawks, vultures, and a bald eagle flew right over and around us.

We ended the day with a little shopping at Ikea and late lunch at Red Robin...then even stopped by the Woodburn Company Stores on the way home for a "potty/shopping' break! :)  It was a wonderful day and lots of new memories made...and the best part of the day the kids were absolutely WONDERFUL!!!

I love how some things never change. When I took Josiah two years ago he had to hold the map then as well! Such cute pictures!
