I just remembered I forgot to share the story of the "magic wheel". So sit back and be prepared to hear all about the magic wheel!
This happened a couple weeks ago:
Setting: Home
Person: Guess who?
One day I was making my children lunch and had just brought Micah his. I walked over to the couch and handed him his plate, when him and I have the following conversation:
Me: "Micah here is your lunch"
Micah: "Mom, my nose hurts."
Me: "Why?" (duh?)
Micah: "I have a wheel stuck in it."
Me: "WHAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT!!!!" (spoken in a higher pitched, non-yelling, but still freaked out voice! Most mom's probably know what that voice sounds like!)
Micah: "Yah, I put a wheel up my nose!"
Me: "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? OR NOT THINKING!"
I proceed to the computer sit down and google, "how to get something out of a child's nose"...resourceful I know!
The #1 suggestion was: Don't freak out!, STAY CALM!
MY RESPONSE:-And of course, CALM I am! :)
#2 suggestion: Have child blow out...to try to dislodge the object.
MY RESPONSE: "Micah try to blow out, NOT in."
This did NOT work as he started sniffing it in further...which I was telling him calmly, of course, STOP!!!!
#3 suggestion: Try to get it out with a tweezers.
MY RESPONSE: I couldn't find one anywhere...so what do I do? I call Dan who is in his staff meeting, but should be almost finished, but I try calling him 3 x's which indicates "EMERGENCY, CALL WIFE!" But still no response from hubby...so I contact church office, which Danielle tried to get ahold of him, meanwhile I am still calmly calling his cell still...finally, Dave answers Dan's cell phone and gets it to him...Dan figured out which child it was on the first guess.
OUTCOME: Dan gets tweezers, comes home, and the 2nd try he got out the wheel. Barely! You could almost not see it, which would have needed a trip to the Urgent Care!
OBJECT: Wheel from one of those finger skateboards! They should be outlawed! Ha!
Why is it MAGIC? Well, the next day we were at my parents and I told them what happened, then my Mom asked Micah why he put it up there...and having a reason for once, he said, "Because I was trying to be magic!"
There you have it people, the magic wheel!

I feel guilty...I think I gave Micah the little skateboard!!! As I was reading I was thinking that he didn't REALLY put a wheel up his nose....that it was a MAGIC wheel! So you would have gone through all of that for nothing! But, lo and behold it was real! Good job, Dan, for getting it out! Gotta love the way Micah thinks:) Good job, Anna, for staying calm! Glad he's ok:)
Ahaha...that's funny, but I could see, as a mom, why you would be freaking out about it, because I know I would! Well, way for him to be creative, I guess, in his reasoning. :)
